The vice president, as a precautionary, measure went into self-isolation Monday night immediately he was informed of Kyari’s test result.

Osinbajo attended several State House events last week, including the Federal Executive Council Meeting on Wednesday, which was also attended by Kyari and chaired by President Muhammadu Buhari.

“VP Osinbajo yesterday at the office conducted his meetings via video conferencing, while observing social distancing,” Laolu Akande, Osinbajo’s spokesman, tweeted on Tuesday.

“Today, he continues his work from the home office, as he is in self-isolation in accordance with NCDC protocols,” he added.

Multiple media reports Tuesday said that Kyari tested positive several days after returning from an official trip to Germany. Kyari, a close ally to President Muhammadu Buhari, was in Germany in early March with a delegation of other Nigerian officials for meetings with Siemens AG.

Kyari, who is in his 70s, has a history of medical complications, including diabetes, Reuters reported.

There are strong possibilities that he has met with the president after he returned from Germany. Multiple media reports said the president was also tested for the virus but his test came back negative.

Before his diagnosis, Kyari met with Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello when he represented Buhari at the Fidau prayer for the governor’s late mother on March 17.

The Minister of information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, Minister of Special Duty, George Akume, Minister of State for FCT, Ramatu Tijani, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media, Garba Shehu, and the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs were also at the event alongside the Chief of Staff.
